Or, how I learned that poi and poipu are not the same thing. Really.
A couple of photographs should be sufficient to describe the Garden Isle; Kauai. However, this is a web log, so photographs are used judiciously (I don’t have many) and I have an abundance (they’re free) of extra words; adjectives, adverbs, etc. Perfect for descriptions. And facts about good resorts and restaurants in the Poipu Beach area. read more » Friday, December 11, 2009
Kauai's not the end of the earth. Close, though. So, what's to do there?
Frankly, the island of Kauai may be as close to paradise as we can get in Hawaii. There’s plenty of secluded and quiet beaches. You can drive top to bottom in less than a day. The resorts are first class. The people are friendly. It’s not too crowded. Here’s a list of things you can do in a true paradise… read more » Thursday, September 24, 2009
If the Spanish were first, why didn't they stick around? Why'd they leave Hawaii?
Kauai is my topic of thought for the day, but I’ll yield in favor of the thoughts of Spanish galleons sailing into Honolulu Harbor a century or two before Captain Cook managed to sail into Hawaiian waters. read more » Tuesday, September 08, 2009

Did I mention how wet it gets on Kauai? Sometimes it's beyond wet
The oldest island in the Hawaiian chain is Kauai, also known as The Garden Isle. Simply put, Kauai is lush, green, tropical. Beaches are excellent, scenery is wondrously varied, local folks are quiet and friendly. What’s not to like? read more »

So, Hanalei is far from Hilo, Hilo's far from everything. Where' Hanalei?
The TV announcer blasts the "Hilo to Hanalei" news theme everynight, seven nights a week. Should you go to Hanalei just to see what it's all about? In a word, yes. "Shock and awe," it's not. But Hanalei is cool. read more »
