Fun AND secluded in Hawaii is a challenge. Try this. OK, Except for the crowds.
Fun and enjoyment is what living in Hawaii is all about. Here’s half a day of fun you won’t quickly forget—bring a camera and you’ll hold fun memories forever. I’ll admit that this place is a little out of the way. It’s like a Harrison Ford looking for Calista Flockhart’s bra snap… read more » Friday, November 20, 2009
Was there art in Hawaii in ancient days? Depends on who's collecting
Yes, there was art in Hawaii before 1927. It just wasn’t all in one place. One of the Pacific’s leading art institutions is centered in the Pacific. Centered in Honolulu, to be specific. Centered on Beretania Street, to be specific. read more » Tuesday, November 10, 2009
4 foot waves are fun, 8 foot waves are rough, 12 footers are dangerous...
"It was a dark and stormy night. A shot rang out. Then I remembered. Over a thousand years ago ancestors of Polynesian travelers created a new water sport called, “hee nalu.” Surfing. A ring shot me in the ear. I woke up." A 50 foot wave? Surfing? In your dreams, beach boy wannabe. Surfers in Hawaii and elsewhere sometimes catch 40 foot waves. It’s not really surfing in the traditional sense, though. read more » Tuesday, September 22, 2009
It spurts. It squirts. It's wet. Danger and Death Playing at the Blowhole.
Hawaii has probably more outdoor activities than any other island in paradise that begins with “H” and uses the American dollar as currency (that saves me a lot of fact checking time). Some activities are fun. Some are not. Here’s one that's both… read more » Friday, June 20, 2008
Let's see, hmmm. Sand, sharks, sun, spam. It's not any one of those.
Fill in the blank. Give it a guess. Hint. It’s not surfing. It’s not snorkeling. It’s not sunbathing, although all three are probably done in Hawaii as much or more than anywhere else in the world. Hawaii has more sur, sun, sharks, and spam than anywhere else. It's not those, it's... read more » Sunday, August 15, 2004
Can't bring yourself to sky dive, scuba, or leg wrestle with Anna Nicole? Try this.
Vacation life becoming hum drum and so so? You’ve seen all the beaches and palm trees and pretty water you can handle? You want something exciting but not on the level of wrestling crocodiles in the Amazon? Now you can see what you’re missing with a seaplane. read more »

We all remember the King; young, handsome, fat, handsome. Not bald.
That’s what I heard from some friends in Chinatown. They insisted that Elvis, the King, was working at McDonald’s in Waikiki. You’ve heard the rumors of the King working at Burger King, right? The Burger King on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki closed down so maybe he just moved over to McDonald’s. read more »

Life's a stage and everyone's a critic. We have more opinions than tourists.
Sorry. I just love doing this. The Internet has opened up a manner of communicating that’s unparalleled in human history. We can talk one-to-one. In groups. Leave opinions. Make reviews. Choose to read or not. Epinions.com is one of those sites that solicits your opinions and reviews on everything. Here are some of the more interesting reviews on Hawaii. read more »

So some folks would think. Culture in Hawaii is thick with diversity.
Oahu is known as The Gathering Place. Gathered on the island’s North Shore is a collection of Pacific Ocean culture you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Here’s what it is and why it’s unique: read more »
